Facebook Privacy Flaw – Bug exposes users hidden e-mail address
Protecting your on-line privacy is a hot issue at the moment. In recent weeks, we’ve seen the now infamous blunder by Google, revealing all of your email contacts automatically when signing up for Buzz. Late on Tuesday night, a crack in Facebook’s security meant that private email addresses of users were suddenly revealed publicly.
The site blamed an update to their code as being the cause for this blunder, but it’s estimated that confidential email addresses were exposed for at least half an hour. Facebook has made a statement on the popular social media site Mashable:
“Last night during Facebook’s regular code push, a bug caused hidden e-mail addresses to be visible briefly. The bug was detected within minutes and corrected.”
The fault was noticed by many users on Twitter before the fix was implemented.
